Grade Recommendations

Choose the grade that matches your drilling conditions. From cost-effective base grades to ultra-hard rock specialists.

HT0616T

Core Grade

Most Widely Used

The go-to grade for DTH and TH bits drilling medium-hard to hard rock. Excellent balance of wear resistance and toughness delivers consistent performance across a wide range of formations.

TRS ≥ 3000 MPa

HT0616

Base Grade

Cost-Effective

Proven performance in taper bits and DTH face buttons. A cost-effective option for standard drilling conditions where premium toughness is not required.

6% Co, medium grain

HT0716T

Ultra-Hard Rock

Maximum Wear Resistance

Higher cobalt content (7%) delivers the extra toughness needed for hard rock where HT0616T experiences breakage. Ideal for abrasive quartzite, granite and gneiss formations.

7% Co, fine grain

HT0816

Brazed-In Carbide

Thermal Shock Resistant

Higher Co% (8%) provides excellent brazeability and thermal shock resistance. Designed for brazed-in carbide applications where the insert must withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles.

8% Co, brazing grade

Button Shape Options

The right button shape maximises penetration rate and wear life for your specific rock type and drilling method.

Hemispherical button shape

Hemispherical

The most common button shape. Provides uniform wear pattern and good penetration in medium-hard rock. Widely used in TH and DTH face and gauge positions.

Parabolic button shape

Parabolic

Aggressive cutting profile with higher penetration rate than hemispherical. Suited for softer formations where faster drilling speed is the priority.

Conical button shape

Conical

Sharp pointed geometry for maximum penetration in soft to medium-soft rock. Often used in gauge positions for effective hole-wall cutting.
